Doodle A Day - 15

Two weeks down, fifty to go, right? xD Only had time for a quick doodle since belly dancing starts up again tonight and I need to do some chores and I want to get some writing done.

The third horseman, War the Red Rider, as portrayed by Hope. When she wasn't out maiming people in the name of Lord Apocalypse her favourite hobby was brushing her hair in front of her mirror, vain creature.

... Why, oh why did I think drawing a reflection would be a good idea ><

Doodle A Day - 13 & 14

And we're back up to date ... at least I think we are. Well, it doesn't matter in the long run 'cos I finished the damn Famine picture! This was such a pain in the ass, seriously, shading all the black, and then it turned out I'd shaded it wrong on some levels and then once everything was shaded having to go back at re-colour all the bits I'd missed.

I have to admit though, the end result is quite awesome. I'm quite pleased with how the mane turned out for one, and the horse's body, but that's mostly down to my beloved DF taking this as an opportunity to show me how to make something appear gaunt, he teaches better by demonstration after all. After finishing this though my hand was cramping so badly I just saved and went to bed.

Today I took a break from the horsemen and finished that silly little scene from the X-Men RP I'd started the blue lines for the other day. For my character's birthday there were drunk party games and after playing musical chairs there were only the two speedsters Jean-Paul (Northstar) and Noriko (Surge) left in the game (yes, there was a lot of cheating xD).

When the music stopped they both grabbed the chair at the same time, and Jean-Paul tried to run off with it while Noriko was clinging onto it for dear life, which resulted in this picture. A few moments later Jean-Paul decided to jump into the pool to get her off, and thus won the bottle of raspberry flavoured vodka that was the prize.

My character had an awesome birthday ^-^

Doodle A Day - 11 & 12

Well, that head-cold thing kicked my ass for a day or too, but I still managed to get some arty-ness done.

Day eleven was spent mostly asleep, but I got the pony's mane done and broke up the black with some gold ... well, at the moment it just looks like yellow but HOPEFULLY it'll look gold when it's done.

Day twelve I just did the blue rough lines for a cutie-fied scene from the Nightscrawearth RP that I said I'd draw.

I've also started to watermark my pictures on the advice of DF, just in case I ever get good enough for people to try stealing my work >.>

Now, off to get some more art done before I get sleepy again!

Doodle A Day - 10

Look! I did something! Only flat colour since I'e been feeling a bit ill the past couple of days and I think I need a nap but I really wanted to get something up.

Traditionally it's Famine who's the black rider of the apocalypse, not Death, so I foresee this picture going 'Fifty Shades of Black' on me unless I can think of a different colour for the details on the uniform ... maybe gold? I dunno, I'll sleep on it.

But yay! Drawing again!

Doodle A Day - 9

I hate doing outlines, that's like my least favourite bit of drawing ><

Had best mate Kerry over today for her birthday, it's not actually her birthday today but we won't see her on her actual birthday so early party for her.

DF did an acrylic on canvas painting for her of a cherry tree with a samurai sitting underneath it with loads of butterflies, which naturally she loves. I got her this little thing:

It's perfume of some kind, and it actually smells pretty nice, but I mostly got it 'cos of the little anime type girl on top of the bottle, in case you couldn't guess, Kez is a big fan of Japanese type stuff :) and I got it from a summer faire ran by the people my dad and brother work for. It's basically an adult learning centre for people with learning difficulties, so the money went to a good cause too.

I baked Kez a cake, DF iced it, we had chips, pie and homemade pizza bread and settled down to watch the Woman in Black since she'd always wanted to see it ... well I say 'we' but DF can't stand horror/suspense movies so he went and hid upstairs. Kez lasted until the bit in the nursery where the little monkey toy set itself off xD We were watching it in the dark and she made me turn the light back on before she ran out of the room to go hide in her nest in the spare room. We're gonna watch the second half in the morning, in daylight, while we eat cake.

So in short, I had a pretty good evening xD

Doodle A Day - 8

Well this is going well, two days behind now ><

Lessee, well, firstly this is the sketch work for the second Horseman, Famine, who when he appeared in game was riding an evil, flaming pony (as you do). In case you were wondering, yes this is a trace from a stock photo I've found since I've never drawn a horse in my life (well ... I probably drew some when I was five but that probably doesn't count).

I seriously could not be arsed to spend weeks and months researching horse anatomy, how people sit on horses and how the reigns would work just for a doodle of an RP character, drawing for me is just a hobby after all.

So yes, pony!

In non-arty news, I had my job interview for Ladbrokes today, so fingers crossed I'll hear back form them, yeah?

Though of course the downside of having a job would be that I would probably miss more drawings days >< oh well ...

Doodle A Day - 7

Annnnd finished. Meet Reed Richards, AKA Marvel's Mr. Fantastic, AKA Nightscrawlearth's Pestilence, the White Rider of Apocalypse.

Nightscrawearth is a long-running, chat based RP that I'm a member of. It's X-Men based in a 'mutants only' universe, so we have characters like Reed to the left here, Thor, Warlock, Spider-Man, only they're all mutants with an X-gene, not gods and aliens and results of weird science experiments, it's a lot of fun.

We've not long finished an 'Apocalypse' plot, where wealthy business man and megalomaniac En Sabah Nur arranged the kidnapping of a handful of X-Men and had Dr. Essex (who you might know better as Mr. Sinister) alter them into his Horsemen, due to his brilliant intellect and rubber body which the judged would be a good host to any variety of diseases he could create with his twisted genius, Reed was transformed into Pestilence.

Don't worry, he's better now, but ol' Poccy is still out there somewhere ...

If you're interested in our RP, you can check it out here.

Next for my daily challenge, I might start working on one of the other Horsemen.

Doodle A Day - 6

Balls, gone midnight and I didn't notice while I was colouring and shading and blending and all that jazz. I think blending the shade is my favourite part of drawing with the pad.

It's been a pretty awesome day for me, I got a phone call for a job interview from Ladbrokes for Monday, though my sister had to lend me the money to get a full birth certificate for it since I don't get JSA till saturday, so tomorrow it's off into town to beg the registry office for a same day one, which should be fuuuuun but hey, job that pays well 'cos of danger money and potential management opportunities, £7 an hour? Thank you very much! I may be able to get married sooner rather then later if I'm lucky.

Been working a lot on my nanowrimo ideas recently as well, I need to get an outline written down so I know where I'm going with it.

Right, back to rping!

Doodle A Day - 5

So it's nearly midnight and rather then doing anything productive most of my evening has been spent playing with my new toy. When I first got my wacom this came with it but it never worked before now.

It's fun, but it takes some getting used to, so you can pretty much see what I doodle in real life here, eyes and basic shapes and little chibi things. The dinosaur is referencing that silly talk I had with my beloved while we were at the pool today.

Sooo, on the subject of my notepad, I like it a lot, the felt tips are pretty fun to play with, you can see me messing about with layers and such, the only downside is that you only get a few colours :(

Hopefully I'll get some real drawing done tomorrow xD

Doodle A Day - 4

Doodle from yesterday, lined and given some flat colour, will be adding the details in tomorrow.

I know I've been calling this 'doodle-a-day' and this isn't technically a doodle, but really my aim is to do something artistic once a day, whether it be drawing or colouring or anything. I want to get more confident with the graphics pad and work on my technique, and so long as I get some work done once a day, I think I'll see a noticeable improvement.

But I'll stick to calling it 'doodle a day' since it's catchy ;)

Doodle A Day - 3

Going for something a little less cutesy this time, not telling you what the subject is juuuussst yet though, that would ruin the surprise. These are all my base lines, will work on lining and colouring this bad boy tomorrow and hopefully it will be the first of a little set of images :)

Doodle A Day - 2

Our mate Rob came over to visit last night and Chris (the Dear FiancĂ©) made ice-cream floats, which Rob had never had before.

Sooo here's an artistic impression of Rob's first ice-cream float xD

Doodle a Day - 1

So I'm following my beloved's advice and trying to do a drawing once a day. Cute, scary, funny, crappy, doesn't matter, just so long as I get something down on paper (or rather, graphics pad) once a day. I'm planning on sticking to this for a year so maybe we'll see some improvement, who knows? :D

Anyway, doodle number one, a little something to commemorate my buddy Fergie escaping her crazy mom and moving to New York. Anybody who knows Fergie knows that she's a pirate (with some ninja tendencies, hence the little guy hiding behind the crates), her first mate is a drunk chicken since at her mom's they had pet chickens, which I think will be the only things she'll miss about that place, and the jolly roger is composed of a skull with a crossed pen (Fergie does a lot of writing) and a magical wand (since Fergie is magical).

It's cute and I like this style, I just wish that GIMP had a watercolour brush, this would look way cute in watercolour, but Fergie seemed to like it which is the main thing.

So Fergie, happy trails! May you enjoy your own pay check for once and I look forwards to skype karaoke when you reach you destination!
